You are wandering through the grocery store, tossing the usual items in your cart when you spy a new item on the shelf that catches your eye. “Healthy!” it says. “Good for you!” it shouts. “Made from all natural ingredients!” it proclaims. So you toss it in the cart because you think you are making a healthy choice. But are you? Do you take the time to check the label, or do you trust that the dirty brown recycled packaging tells the whole truth?

On any given day we all feel a certain age. Lose sleep or have a rough night with the kids, and you probably get up the next morning feeling ready for the retirement home. Get lots of rest or soak up some sun on vacation and you may feel younger than before. But while our bodies make us feel a certain physical age, how “old” (or young) do we feel mentally? When you are at work or socializing with a group of your peers, do you feel like the big sister in charge of the group or are you the “baby” of the family shrinking over in the corner? We all have those friends – the ones that fill our Facebook news feed with the latest big purchase they’ve made, this month’s vacation photos or yet another achievement by their perfect kids. And while we love to see their beautiful photos and cheer on their little darlings, sometimes it becomes overwhelming and we start to feel…inadequate.  Sometimes, a blog post about a gourmet style home cooked meal makes our mac-and-cheese with hot dogs seem less than decent.  And when we look out over the top of the laptop and discover that our own kids have trashed the house beyond recognition, up pops a photo of someone’s perfectly immaculate living room…It’s no wonder many of us deal with insecurity.  This week on the Musing Mommies Podcast, Kim and Dawn discuss what makes them feel insecure, and how they deal with it.
